In order to maintain your log cabin in the best possible way against the influence of wind, sun, and rain, the wood should be treated as soon as possible.
In our experience we highly recommend that you protect your cabin as soon as it has been erected. Together with a well established manufacturer of timber finishes Cabinville has developed an excellent range of timber finishing stains, taking into account quality and environment care.
The careful treatment of your log cabin, shepherd hut or BBQ cabin is a vital condition for the life time of your cabin. These finishing stains have been developed, taking into account that a perfect moisture regulation and elasticity of the stain are key elements for optimum protection and appropriate life time, 2 coats normally last up to 5 years.
The timber finishes are available in 2.5 Litre and 5L tins only, Cabinville recommend applying a clear preserver before it is painted. We also recommend 2 coats of finishing stain to achieve the best possible finish and protection against the elements. Please note that the quantity recommended for your cabin is only a guide.

<h2>Planning Permission &#8211; Log Cabins, Summerhouses, BBQ Cabins and other outbuildings</h2>

Under new regulations that came into effect on 1 October 2008 outbuildings are considered to be permitted development, not needing planning permission, subject to the following limits and conditions:
<h3>No outbuilding forward of the principal elevation fronting a highway.</h3>
Outbuildings and garages to be single storey with maximum eaves height of 2.5 metres and maximum overall height of four metres with a dual pitched roof or three metres for any other roof.
Maximum height 2.5 metres within two metres of a boundary.
No verandas, (Note from Cabinville: We interpret* this rule as not including what we call “Verandas” or “Deck Verandas” as the platform is less than 300mm from the ground and this seems entirely acceptable when reading about the what is allowed for decking. If in doubt check with your local planning office.) balconies or raised platforms.
No more than half the area of land around the &#8220;original house&#8221;* would be covered by additions or other buildings.
In National Parks, the Broads, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and World Heritage Sites the maximum area to be covered by buildings, enclosures, containers and pools more than 20 metres from house to be limited to 10 square metres.
On designated land* buildings, enclosures, containers and pools at the side of properties will require planning permission.
Within the curtilage of listed buildings any outbuilding will require planning permission.
The term &#8220;original house&#8221; means the house as it was first built or as it stood on 1 July 1948 (if it was built before that date). Although you may not have built an extension to the house, a previous owner may have done so.
Designated land includes national parks and the Broads, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, conservation areas and World Heritage Sites.

Planning Permission – Why is the 2.5m rule important&#8230;
Planning permission can be a complicated – The UK government added another set of rules in October 2008.
1) E.1 d) (ii) Development is not permitted by Class E if the height of the building, enclosure or container would exceed 2.5 metres in the case of a building enclosure or container within 2 metres of the boundary of the curtilage of the dwelling house,
The means if a log cabin is over 2.5m high and within 2m of a fence, hedge, wall etc., you are not allowed to erect it without planning permission.

2) E.1 e) Development is not permitted by Class E if the height of the eaves of the building would exceed 2.5m metres

The Cabinville “Shepherd’s Lookout” Shepherd Hut is our brand new shepherd hut. We love this new shepherd hut with it’s big windows either side of the front door.The extra light and the opportunity to have superb views is ideal for a home studio, a workspace, a home office or as luxury guest accommodation.
The Lookout shepherd hut is supplied untreated. Customers are able to fit insulation, lining and panelling as required.

The Kota BBQ cabin/hut has been an amazing success here at Cabinville and we are pleased to be able to offer our largest bbq hut.
It can be used all year round to entertain and sleep in. There are 7 benches fitted around the walls, that provide seating for a total of 21 persons, and two of these converts into a sleeping platform. As an option, standard benches can be upgraded to convert into a sleeping bench. There are 4 double glazed windows, two of which opens and are lockable. The walls are 45mm thick. The build quality is of the highest standard.
The Barbeque cabin comes supplied with a large grill, an adjustable BBQ hood and chimney and folding removable tables.

Kota BBQ Log Cabin 10m²

The Cabinville Pavilion Log Cabin is one of the most eye catching designs within our range. This cabin oozes plenty of features which make it the perfect for your garden. Classic English pavilion looks built from the finest materials, all at an affordable price. The Cabinville Pavilion is an all time favourite and one of our best sellers.
With its 4 double windows the Pavilion can be used as an office or perhaps an art studio, the list is endless. The &#8220;vaulted&#8221; open style roof with a ridge height of 3.51m making the inside space very light and airy and giving the illusion that it&#8217;s even bigger than it actually is.
The front gable gives definition to the roof, making it much more pleasing to the eye than just a plain apex roof. It forms a great platform to mount our exterior quality clock giving the building a traditional look.

Pavilion

Our Cabinville shepherd huts have been a great success now we have added to the model range the new Shepherd’s View. This shepherd’s hut benefits from having double doors placed on the side – so now you view the lake, your garden, the mountains or even your sheep as you enjoy your new hut. Easier access, an increase of light and now you can open the double doors to take in the fresh air.
As well as the windows in the double doors there is a window on each end of the hut and another in the back wall. All windows open and are double glazed.
The Cabinville Shepherd Huts are delivered easy packed for ease of build and can be carried if access is a problem.

The shepherds hut can be easily be insulated for all year round use. The chassis, axles and wheels are galvanised. No foundations are required all is required is a paving slab under each wheel. Supplied with steps.

The Kota BBQ cabin/hut has been an amazing success here at Cabinville. This timber cabin can be ordered for use as a BBQ cabin &#8211; perfect for whatever the weather. Our favorite install was on the side of a river bank &#8211; fish caught that day was cooked in the cabin and the after a great social evening the guest then made the Kota cabin home for the night.
